"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn."

A Statement of Philosophy
I believe that every child deserves to receive education in a safe and nurturing environment, and educators are at the forefront of their learning opportunities.

I believe that being passionate about teaching and continuous learning is crucial for an educator to engage students and foster a love of learning.

I believe that respecting diversity, equality, equity, and inclusion in the classroom is important as educators' beliefs are reflected in the curriculum, which impacts students' learning and understanding of the world.

I believe that children, families, communities, and educators work as a team to ensure safe, positive, and respectful learning environments, and educators play an important role in incorporating them.

I believe that a wide variety of learning tools should be utilized in the classroom to better support individuals learning needs and performance.

Goals
Goals for the third-year placement
Goals for my 4th placement
My priority goal was to design, modify, and implement learning activities based on a child’s IPP or IEP. Throughout the placement, I ensured the program objectives were being met through daily activities and routines by using diverse strategies for the child and being consistent with them. I was able to observe the child’s growth and development at the end of the placement and deeply understood the importance of individualized planning.
The main goal for the next placement is to involve families and community members in the curriculum. As I believe learning is not a one-way process, it is important to work collaboratively with families and community members to support children’s development and learning. Educators can play an important role in this process with their expertise and resources to benefit children and families by inviting them into the curriculum.
Achieved Goals from Internship

The main goal for this year's internship was to collaboratively work with families. I have found ways to engage and incorporate diverse families into public programs at the Ontario Science Centre. Overcoming shyness in approaching families allowed me to have deeper and more meaningful interactions with children and families, based on their diverse needs. Based on experience interacting with various families, I have gained valuable insights into tailoring programs that cater to their diverse needs and preferences. The collaborative efforts with families have not only expanded my understanding of their unique perspectives but have also highlighted the importance of fostering an environment where all families feel welcome and engaged. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my belief in the significance of community collaboration and the impact it can have on creating meaningful and accessible educational experiences for children and their families.
